Why is the evening star also the morning star?

This is really funny how I can only remember things that interests me in lectures. When the lecturer was explaining the relationship between something or rather... he used the analogy of how the evening star is venus, and is also the morning star!

It is because venus is closer to the sun than the earth, it will always be near the sun when viewed from the earth. During the day the sun is too bright and it's brightness overshadows venus. It is only during sunrise or sunset, when the sun is hidden behind the earth's horizon, then we can see venus. For this reason it is also known as the morning star and the evening star.
