Good reads :D

I went to this lady's seminar and she is wonderful! She talked about all these impediments to saving the environment esp when it comes to politicians and thier own little agendas.
Special factors I remembered from her talk is...
-> do not eat european food as it is grown on radioactive soils
-> do not drink french wine (same reason as above)
-> Australia is the largest exporter of uranium and therefore morally responsible for all the side effects of nuclear powered stations around the world.
-> Nuclear power plants need a large amount of fossil fuel powered counterparts as well as a large amount of water to keep it cool. The electricity produced is not worth its environmental footprint.
-> we need scientifically educated politicians - only Al Gore is a plausible candidate!
-> she was at a conference where politicians are deciding whether or not to build nuclear power plants, she caught their attention by talking the effect of radiation on their *ahkem* male parts.

About this Title

In a world torn apart by wars over oil, politicians have increasingly begun to look for alternative energy sources-and their leading choice is nuclear energy. The myths that have been spread about nuclear-powered electricity are that it does not cause global warming or pollution, it is inexpensive and it is safe.
In this revealing examination of the costs and consequences of nuclear energy, world-renowned antinuclear spokesperson Helen Caldicott uncovers the facts that belie the nuclear industry propaganda: nuclear power contributes to global warming; the true cost of nuclear power is prohibitive, with taxpayers picking up most of the tab; there's simply not enough uranium in the world to sustain nuclear power over the long term; and the potential for a catastrophic accident or a terrorist attack far outweighs any benefits.
